Anthracite Coffee Persuasive Speech & slide deck in progress

Student Project, Management Consultant

  • I recieved 180/200 possible points on this assignment. There were definitely things I could have done better as stated in the feedback below including the need for greater specificity in my reasoning on key points.

  • “Nice gracious opening for this audience. You include no true hook to grab attention but you do clearly run us through the executive summary as an agenda.

We see nice professional-looking slides, but they’re missing message headings to help us track your main claims. You effectively explain the situation for coffee in the U.S. and the established love of Korean food. Nice use of the 1/3 stat for people who go look for drinks they see on social.

You provide good clear analysis of the brand and a clear claim that regeneration is a strength for the U.S. But I do wonder why? We needed to hear more of your reasoning here.

Now we get a clear explanation of Mpls. in terms of a specialty market, and you articulate a good claim about its central location. Why tell us about local competitors—what does this mean for us exactly? Nice work focusing on the small buildings in the city that can be refurbished.

Now we hear the launch plan—focusing on US specialty coffee lovers, okay, but this is a bit vague. The TikTok plan for regeneration sounds great.

Now you have a good clear explanation of the persona This probably should have come earlier. Finally, we get a good clear intro to No Good at the end, nicely timed.

You’re going a little long, but we hear a great plan for the shipping nationally while building and audience and you give us a strong closing.

You get a great question from Selah, and you answer it well, but just out of time. “

    Concluding Thoughts

“This is a mostly great presentation that seems to be pulling punches in terms of specificity and logic in some key places. Great conversational delivery. “

  • “I think the delivery was close to exceeding the requirements because he seemed well prepared, used a lot of the tips learned in class (hand gestures & placement) and was confident in what he was saying.

    Delivery

Strengths: uses appropriate hand gestures to enhance what is being said, good volume and articulation/emphasis
Weaknesses: longer pauses in some places and a little bit of hesitation

    Content

Strengths: a lot of research and praise to the company to show that time was taken to really understand both the sponsoring company and the coffee shop
Weaknesses: some repetition and not a lot of depth, a solution was given but less on the value of the solution and more on the implementation

    Use of Zoom

Treated it like a typical presentation. He dressed nicely, had nice slide layout. I’m not sure that zoom had a tremendous effect on the presentation but it definitely hid any nervousness.”
